Mounting a Door/Gate Controller

Before going out to an installation make sure you have the right knowledge and tools:

  1. Wire strippers and cutters

  2. Small Phillips head screwdriver

  3. Mounting hardware

  4. Wire connectors

  5. Smartphone with the VIZpin SMART app installed and valid Smartkey

  6. You may also need an electrical box and mounting adaptors and a secure enclosure

Before installing the Door/Gate Controller, record the serial number from the controllers box or back plate. The Door/Gate Controller should always be mounted on the secure side of the door to protect it from weather and vandals If its absolutely necessary to mount the device outside, it must be contained in a secure weather rated enclosure.

  1. Prevent damage to the unit by snipping the bare leads of the unused wires

  2. Prep the mounting location by cutting out holes for the power and lock cables and for any other components such as electrical boxes and adaptors

  3. To mount the device run a 2 conductor cable from a reliable 12 volt DC power supply to the mounting location

  4. Connect the positive line of the power supply to the red wire on the Door/Gate Controller

  5. Connect the power supplies negative wire to the Door/Gate Controller's black wire

    1. all ground wires in the system should be connected to the same earth ground source

  6. Run another 2 conductor cable to the electric lock to the mounting location

  7. Wire these to the Door/Gate Controller by connecting the positive side of the locks power source to the device's blue wire. Usually the locks power source will be the same as the 12 volt DC power supply that's powering the controller

  8. Connect the controller's yellow wire to the positive side of the lock

  9. Connect the negative side of the lock to the negative wire of the locks power supply

  10. Remove the set screws at the bottom of the controller and separate the housing from its back plate

  11. Mount the back plate to the wall or electrical box with the appropriate mounting hardware and adaptors

  12. Reattach the controller housing the the back plate and replace the set screws

  13. Turn on the power supply

  14. When the LED is pulsing red tap the VIZpin key in VIZpin Smart app to test the device

  15. The controller displays a green LED and unlocks the door
