Wiegand Installation
Entegrity Smart Door/Gate Controllers can be configured to work with a Wiegand card reader. For installations that still require legacy PROX card readers, this feature will eliminate the need for traditional access control panel on the backend completely. The Door/Gate Controller is now the access panel.
Wiegand input is currently compatible with the standard 26-bit (i.e. 123-4568) and 35-bit (i.e. 12-345) Corp 1K formats.
To use Wiegand input, first install the controller and locking device as per our other videos and quick install guide. Next, connect the PROX cards reader Wiegand data 0 line to the controller's green wire and the Wiegand data 1 line to the controller's white wire. Consult the PROX readers manuals to determine the appropriate Wiegand data 0 and data 1 lines.
Often times the PROX reader and the Door/Gate Controller can utilize the same power supply. Consult the PROX reader and power supply documentation. Whether using a single power supply or independent power supply, be sure the PROX card readers ground wire is tied to the same grounding point as the controller. If not, the Wiegand card numbers will not be properly transmitted.
Turn on power to the Door/Gate Controller and the PROX card reader.
Login to your VIZpin partner portal and add the controller as normal. VIZpin units with the appropriate serial number have Wiegand input enabled by default.
Grant access for this controller to a VIZpin Smart app user or a user with an existing key to this Smart Device controller can refresh their app to pull down the LINK update.
The user should trigger the controller 2 or 3 times as normal to update the controller’s settings to align with this VIZpin account type. There may be a flash on the controller status light but otherwise there will be no obvious indication to the user that the settings were updated.
At this point since we have not yet enrolled any cards when you present a card to the PROX reader, the VP1 unit should flash yellow indicating an invalid card number was received.
The VIZpin Smart Device controller is now ready to provide access to card users.
