My lock's requirements exceed the specs of the VIZpin relay. Can I still use VIZpin as my door controller?
Yes, but it requires the use of a 3rd party external relay.
The VIZpin controller’s relay is rated for a maximum load of 750 mA @ 12-24 VDC/VAC. This is more than sufficient for most access control installations. Using an external relay allows the VP1 to indirectly control more taxing locks or openers.
In general terms, the VP1’s blue and yellow wires would be used as a dry-contact to trigger the external relay, which in turn sends power to the lock to open. Consult the relay’s documentation or contact us for more information.
