Replacing a previously installed VP1 with a new VP2

Replacing a previously installed VP1 with a new VP2

Begin by disconnecting the power to our device.

If you want to cut the wires on the VP1 to plug directly into the VP2 for ease of installation, we’re okay with that as long as you leave the wires coming out of the back of the VP1 long enough that we can test the unit when we get it back.  We request at least 3-4" of wire coming out of the VP1.

Where the current black wire on the VP1 (ground) is connected, you will connect to the top port on the J9 block (GND).
Where the current red wire on the VP1 (12VDC in) is connected, you will connect to the second port on the J9 block (12V).
Where the current blue wire on the VP1 (Relay) is connected, you will connect to the third port on the J9 block (RLYA).
Where the current yellow wire on the VP1 (Relay) is connected, you will connect to the bottom port on the J9 block (RLYB).

If your door/gate controller is connected to a keypad or other Wiegand device, you will also need to connect the white and green data wires.

Where the current green wire on the VP1 (D0) is connected, you will connect to the second port from the top of the J8 block (D0).
Where the current white wire on the VP1 (D1) is connected, you will connect to the third port from the top of the J8 block (D1).

When you’re done with your wiring changes, power the device back on.

Once the unit has been changed out, you will need to update any smartphone roles so that users are able to access the new reader.
