Updating VP2 Firmware with iOS VIZpin Smart app (version 5.6.5 and above)

The ability to update the firmware on a VP2 has been built into the iOS VIZpin Smart app beginning with version 5.6.5. This is an option that is only available to managers and administrators on the account.

 

WARNING: Updating from version 2.2 to 2.3 will require a reactivation of all fobs, permanent codes, cards and temporary codes. This will require assistance from our support staff. Please coordinate this process by submitting a helpdesk ticket by going to Get Help Us - Entegrity Smart Property Systems Property Systems Failure to coordinate this process can result in lockouts for those using access methods other than a smartphone.

 

Prior to going to the reader:

  1. Contact Entegrity Smart Support for the latest version of the VP2 firmware by submitting a ticket. Please provide the serial number(s) of the VP2 hardware you want to update.

  2. You should receive an email from support with the firmware file that you need. Please save the file to a location on your phone that you can easily navigate to (ex. iCloud Drive).

 

Updating the VP2 firmware:

  1. While within range of the device you need to update, tap on the “+ info” text under the name of the door.

  2. Managers/Administrators of the account should see a special icon to the left of the Refresh button. It is an arrow pointing upwards in a circle and is used to upgrade firmware on the device. Tap on that icon to launch the over the air update feature. If you do not see this icon, either you do not have permissions or the device is not a VP2.

  3. The firmware window will open. Tap on the down arrow next to “download firmware”.

  4. Navigate to the file sent to you from Entegrity Smart support and tap on it to select. The file should have the .bin extension.

  5. Tap on the Upload Firmware button. You will see the status bar go from left to right as it is updating.

  6. When the process completes, you should see a message of Success! and Upload Finished! You should be able to ensure that the process has completed normally by examining the output. Start by finding the firmware version listed in the filename near the bottom of the logs. Now look in the results for that same version number. Once you find it, find the active value for that version number. If it shows true then everything is ready to go. If it shows false, you can try to reflash it again.

    If there are any questions as to whether the process completed properly, you can save or email the logs to Entegrity Smart support by submitting a ticket.
