Wiegand input devices such as card readers and keypads can be used with the VIZpin System. These devices can be programed to have cards or codes unlock the door, however there are limitations in the type of access they can have.

  • All Card Users will have 24x7 access only: Cards can only be granted 24x7 access and will be able to open the door at all times, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A few considerations:

  • Granting Access: after granting access in the VIZpin portal, a user with a valid Smartkey must manually refresh their app and trigger the reader(s) in order for the reader(s) to recognize the Card user and allow an unlock

  • Revoking Access: after revoking access in the VIZpin portal, a user with a valid Smartkey must manually refresh their app and trigger the reader(s) in order for the reader(s) to now block the Card user from unlocking the door.

  • Activity History: events for each time a Card user unlocks a door will not show up in the portal until a smartphone user has triggered the door and their activity is sent back up the cloud portal as well. If there are several Card unlocks before the next smartphone user unlocks, it may take a few refreshes to push that information to the cloud portal.

  • 80/20 Rule: Your account must have at least 80% smartphone users vs. up to 20% Card (or FOB) users. In addition, each VP1 can only support 512 Cards/FOBs
